Pecan Pie French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

French baguette

Pecan pie topping:

unsalted butter

brown sugar

cup
light corn syrup

ground cinnamon

pecan halves
somewhat crushed
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x13 casserole dish.
Slice bread and lay it over the bottom of the casserole dish (you may have to overlap the bread slices slightly).
In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs, milk, 3 Tbsp brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon, until smooth.
Pour egg mixture slowly all over the bread, making sure there are no dry spots on the bread. Press on bread slices. Set aside.
In a small sauce pot, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in brown sugar and corn syrup.
Once the mixture is heated through and sugar is melting, stir in pecans and cinnamon. Cook for a few minutes and take off heat.
Scoop small spoonfuls of pecan pie mixture all over the bread, making sure it's covering the bread evenly.
Bake French toast casserole for 40-43 minutes.
Serve warm.
