Summer grilling is never complete without a row of hot dogs sizzling on the grill! Hot dogs and burgers are the quintessential summer barbecue foods that we make several times a month. So why not have some fun with the flavors?!

Why keep making plain-old hot dogs when you can dress them up in different flavors and add fun toppings. These grilled hot dogs are marinated in sriracha honey sauce and grilled to a fire-kissed perfection. The way fire caramelized this sauce on hot dogs is like a spicy-sweet heaven for your taste buds.

But that’s not all! To keep even more sauce on the hot dogs and to infuse more smoky grill flavor, I’ve cut them on a spiral. Spiral cut hot dogs, hold more sauce and since the casing is sliced, even more smoky flavor is infused into the meat.

I topped off these awesome hot dogs with some easy, homemade coleslaw. Just for a nutty, crunchy kick, I added some cashews to my coleslaw. It was a great pairing to these flavor-bursting dogs.

Ingredient Notes and Tips

Labeled ingredients for Sriracha Honey Hot Dogs on a wood surface.

Hot dogs – make sure to use your favorite hot dogs, they are the star of the recipe after all.

Slaw mix – to save yourself buying a few extra ingredients and steps, you can use a pre-shredded slaw mix.

Sriracha sauce – make sure to use sriracha sauce, not any other hot sauce! It has a specific flavor. Don’t worry about getting a big bottle because it’s great is so many recipes, like Sriracha chicken tacos, sriracha chicken tenders, and so much more.

Cashews – make sure to use unflavored, or lightly salted roasted cashews. if you don’t want to use cashews, you can substitute almonds or pecans.

You can brush them one more time, about a minute before taken the off the grill.

Recipe FAQs

Can I marinate the hot dogs ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can spiral cut the hot dogs and mix them with the sriracha honey sauce ahead of time. Place it all into an air-tight food storage container or leave it right in the mixing bowl, just make sure to cover the mixing bowl air-tight. Store it in the refrigerator for about 1 day, not longer. Then, grill them the next day.
You can also make the coleslaw ahead of time and store it separately, in an air-tight food storage container, in the refrigerator.

Is this recipe gluten free?

The grilled hot dogs themselves and the slaw are gluten free, yes. You will want to make sure that the hot dogs that you buy are gluten free. Use gluten free hot dog buns or eat it without a bun if needed.

Can I reheat grilled hot dogs?

Yes of course! You can reheat them in a microwave to make it quick and easy but the skin will not be crispy. If you want to re-crisp the skin, simple reheat them in a preheated cooking pan, over medium heat. You can also use an air-fryer to reheat them at about 360° and just for a minute or two.
