Sesame Chicken with Noodles makes an easy weeknight dinner and so full of flavor. This sesame chicken is light because it’s made with no breading. Even without breading, this is a very tasty dish. It’s served with rice noodles but it can just as well be served with rice, lo main, or any other pasta.

Those quick and ready dinners are perfect for busy week night. I have several go-to recipes for easy dinners that are also worth trying, like Garlic Shrimp Rice Bowl, and Baked Salmon and Asparagus. If you want to stick to easy chicken dinners, try this Pepper Chicken or Lemon Pepper Chicken Fettuccine.

Sesame Chicken

Put down that take out menu immediately because you will be done making this delicious sesame chicken before they even have a chance to deliver it. It’s so easy and light, you don’t have to worry about any unknown ingredients that went into your dinner.

You can also customize this chicken dish to change how it’s served, what cut of chicken is used, and what veggies are used. This sesame chicken can be made perfectly for you in about 30 minutes. What’s even better is that you can marinade the chicken ahead of time.

Depending on the mood and availability, I often change up the cut of chicken that I use. I love chicken thigh meat because it so much more tender and flavorful than breast meat. Chicken breast meat, on the other hand, is leaner, contains less fat, and less calories. So depending on the needs, you can decide to use chicken thigh meat or chicken breast meat.

Veggies and rice noodles combined with this sesame chicken makes for a delightfully balanced bite.

What else can you serve with this sesame chicken?

If rice noodles are not your favorite or simply not available, there are other options for substituting.

Rice will actually go perfectly here and you can choose brown rice or jasmine rice.

For extra health benefits, you can use quinoa.

If you wish to stick with pasta, try glass noodles, lo main noodles, or even classic spaghetti. Sky is the limit when it comes to pasta.

Is this sesame chicken gluten free?

Yes but you have to make the right choices. Make sure to use gluten free soy sauce and rice noodles. Rice noodles are gluten free most of the time but check the nutrition just in case. Rice is another gluten free option.

If you wish to use spaghetti, choose gluten free spaghetti.

How to make sesame chicken:

This is a very simple dish and you can even marinade chicken ahead of time.

Combine ingredients for the sauce together and whisk well. Chop chicken into small cubes, discarding fat if any, and add it to the sauce. Stir and let it marinade for 15 minutes.

(If you wish to cook it later, make sure to cover it well and refrigerate for a few hour or overnight.)

While chicken is marinading, cook noodles according to the package instructions, strain and set aside. Chop and slice vegetables and set them aside.

Preheat a large cooking pan (or a wok if available) over medium heat. Add canola oil and sesame oi.

Take out chicken (save marinade) and cook it until about half way done, stirring and turning it over as it cooks.

Add veggies, stir and cook until veggies start to soften.

Pour in marinade and cook until chicken is done and veggies are tender, stirring once in a while. Make sure sauce simmers for a few minutes since it contained raw chicken.

Once everything is cooked, add cooked noodles and stir until everything is evenly incorporated.

Garnish with extra diced scallions and sesame seeds.

How to reheat sesame chicken:

This Sesame Chicken and Noodles dish can be easily stored in the refrigerator, in an air-tight container. To reheat, you can simply pop it in the microwave or reheat it in a pan, over medium heat.
