Leftover Turkey Sandwiches

How great are pretzel buns?! Since it became popular, I see all kinds of burger buns, hot dog buns and slider buns in pretzel bread sold at the grocery stores. We love it! It’s so much tastier than regular bread. I don’t even buy anything but pretzel buns and brioche buns for our burgers and sandwiches anymore.

So when I was deciding on a way to use our Thanksgiving turkey leftovers, pretzel sliders seemed like the perfect compliment.

From my experience, cranberry sauce and turkey make up most of the leftovers, especially the turkey. So I always make recipes with it for days to follow. Some of our favorite leftover dishes with turkey include Leftover Turkey Noodles and Creamy Turkey Spinach Enchiladas.

I decided to add to my leftovers menu and make turkey sliders with flavorful rosemary Asiago cheese, pretzel buns and serve them warm. Wow, these little sandwiches were packed with deliciousness! Best part about these mini sandwiches is that you can make them any time of the year! No need to wait for leftovers.

Just 4 Ingredients:

Turkey – use turkey breast or turkey thighs if you wish, just make sure to slide it thin.

Asiago cheese – this cheese is quite strong and flavorful and goes great with the sweet and tangy cranberry sauce.

Cranberry sauce – use leftover homemade cranberry sauce or use canned.

Pretzel slider buns – to make the sliders, slider buns will be best but if regular pretzel buns is all you have, you can use those and just double ingredients inside.

How To Make Them:

Making these little sandwiches is super easy!

Preheat the oven to 350° while you’re assembling the sliders. You will want to either lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Assemble the sliders: spread some cranberry sauce on each bottom of a slider bun. Add sliced turkey over the top and then thinly sliced asiago cheese. Cover with the top bun.

Bake: place assembled sliders onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes, until cheese is melted.

I’m afraid I didn’t like the combination of the cranberry and pretzel roll much, and I really love both pretzel rolls and cranberry sauce.
