Refreshing cocktail, just perfect for this warm weather. This sangria is made with fresh grapefruit, vanilla bean, slightly sweet wine and light rum.
The weather has been beautiful for the past couple of week. Just perfect for spring backyard parties or for just relaxing outside in the afternoon.
Jeez, I feel like one of those people who awkwardly discusses the weather when they run out of conversation and have nothing else left to say. “So, it’s been warm here, how about you? Are you getting some warm weather? Yea, the weather has been nice.”
Well, my weather babble is not actually awkward, I’m truly enjoying this spring weather until we get hit with the unbearable heat and humidity. Every day, after we get home in the afternoon, I go to my back patio and enjoy a cup of coffee. It’s just so nice out there. Well, it’s nice most of the days. I saw a snake the other day, ran inside and didn’t come out again until the next day.
I’m pretty sure the small black racer snake was gone before I even ran inside but I didn’t want to think about it for the rest of the day. I am SO not a snake fan. In my freak out, I started researching any and every way to repel snakes from your back yard until I started seeing the same theme in the articles. I kept reading that most of them are just passing through and not to jump to chemical measures until it’s actually an infestation problem and then just call professionals.
I realized I was freaking out a little too much but still, I hate the slithery little suckers. I do want to find something to repel them at least from around little man’s outside toy storage box. If anyone has experience in that, let me know what works for you!!
Well, the next day, I reclaimed my backyard and enjoyed my Friday afternoon on my patio with a glass of this refreshing Fresh Grapefruit Sangria. It is deeeeelightful!
Before you start asking me if I was sure that the “vanilla bean” ingredient is supposed to be in this recipe or it’s might be a mistake, let me tell you that it is not a mistake at all! I just want to inspire you to try it because it adds an amazing body to this drink, it bring out the flavor of grapefruit, and enhances the sweetness. It was a little experiment with my Rodelle vanilla beans that I’m glad I went with my gut and tried it. It paid off big!
