UPDATE: Wow, this is embarrassing! I am currently repainting this because the Russian flag colors are on the wrong order. Hang my head in shame…
Several years ago…yes, I said years… my hubby got me a beautiful dark cherry wooden easel and a painting set. Do you want to know how many times I used it? I think that by the tone of this post, you already know. I’m not proud to admit that I have not used it at all.
Actually, I have not drawn or painted anything in years. I used to always have a pencil or a paint brush in my hands, I took prizes and the shows, I was one of star art students. You know how it goes…life gets away from you. First it was work and college, then it was work and kids. I have been staring at my art supplies in shame.
Well, something has inspired me to pick up my pain brush and crack open my brand new oils. That “something” was this year’s Olympic games. I know, I’m a little late sharing my project, since the Olympics have been on for a week and a half. I am just happy that I finally started and finished a paining!
Olympic games were always been big in my family. I remember, my grandfather and I used to watch the Olympic games in Russia. I may live in another country now but I still cheer for Russia. I don’t look at it as a competition between my home country and my new country. I look at it as added bliss seeing both of them win! I have that much more cheering to do!
To help me cheer for USA and Russia, I made this flag painting:
Here is my work in progress:
And finally finished!
