Guess what I get to do for the next 6 weeks?!!! I am a student of SoFabU and I got a chance to participate in a photography class sponsored by Sears Grilling. I am very excited to be offered this opportunity by Social Fabric. I am definitely in a need of a photo class because so far my photo skills were mostly self-thought. Most of you know that to have a successful blog it is very important to have beautiful photos.
I’m sure that some of my devoted followers have noticed somewhat of an improvement in my photography. The main reason for this improvement is a new camera that my husband and I inherited from my father-in-law. But the camera does not make a photographer! For this reason, I feel lucky that I am related to a photographer who has been slowly teaching me. Unfortunately, we haven’t had too much time for him to teach me. That is why I feel so happy to have gotten into this great photography class.
In this class we will be exploring introductory and intermediate photography techniques to better showcase all of our food and food related pictures. We will have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to create engaging images through the right techniques, photo composition and photo editing.
During our first class, this week, we were talking about photo-editing techniques. The program that we are using a free online software, Pixlr (http://pixlr.com/editor/). Pixlr is an online editor for graphics and photos and is similar to Adobe Photoshop, but its free!
I can not wait to share everything that I will learn with you!

You are so right that the camera doesn’t make a photographer. It just makes us feel cool!

Oh isn’t that the stinking truth: the camera does not make a photographer… I so want a DSLR, but I feel like I should really learn how to take good photos before incurring that expense. Can’t wait to continue the course!
